I think to Toys

Fabiano Tadiotto

I am a web designer with an artistic background, active since 2000. For some years I have drawn and hand made toys prototypes. Before creating polymeric clay toys I sketched many post-it papers and moulded toys out of plasticine.

The aim of this online catalogue is finding manufacturers wanting to mass produce my toys.

I create my toys without preventive sketches, but directly manipulating the polymeric clay. At the beginning of this process I decide only the prototype colours. I don't use any special tools, except for my fingers and, sometimes, the tip of a pen. After modelling the clay, the toy is cooked obtaining a solid prototype suitable for making moulds.

My aim, as documented in my website www.toysthink.com, is not only producing the sculptures/prototypes in limited series, but also and mainly starting a process of communicative curiosity between me and the interlocutor, so that he can look for an input, a link between our internal and external worlds in the sensory being of the work of art.

Toys specifications

These lamp-icons represent my toys luminosity. It is a purely approximate value, useful to understand the luminescence intensity. For example: if the toy is hit by a strong light for 5 minutes and there are 5 “lamps” near it, this means that in the dark this toy gives off light for 2 or 3 hours.
